Do you trick out your house for Halloween? The Machine wants to see it.
Submit photos of your decorations or others you come across, and I’ll round up the best ones in a post later this month.
Spooky? Scary? Skeletons? Whatever way you or your witchy neighbors go all-out decorating for Halloween, The Fairfax Machine wants to see your photos.
Submit your own tricked-out house, a proud friend’s, or just some stranger’s front-yard graveyard so great that you had to stop to capture it. If enough people send pictures in before the end of the month, The Machine will feature the best ones in a roundup here around Halloween. I can include what I find, too — including our haunted-townhouse-in-progress.
What to submit: Clear photos of spirited (so to speak) Halloween decorations, in any standard image format. They can be outdoor or indoor. And while I always want to prioritize Fairfax County in The Machine’s coverage, for this I’m open to any good house-decorating pictures from the DMV or beyond.
So if, say, you’re in Annandale but your cousin Larry in Las Vegas always goes nuts for Halloween, don’t hold back. Let the people see what Larry has wrought.
How to submit: Just send The Machine an email with your Halloween house photo(s) at fairfaxmachinenews@gmail.com. Include where you and the pic are from and, if you’d like, a short blurb about the scene you’re submitting.
Why to submit: Well, it’s The Machine’s first Halloween since it booted up in early June, and while its motherboard has gobbled up every bit of holiday lore in cyberspace, there’s a lot it still needs to learn. Things like:
What mighty creatures died to make those giant lawn skeletons? and
Why are the Costco werewolves so unnecessarily ripped?
Also, because seeing people’s awesome Halloween houses is fun.
Do you or someone you know treat Halloween decorating like it’s your Super Bowl? Where do you see the best Halloween houses in the area?
Spread the word in the comments.
